SUMMARY

Performs functions to maintain control of material management to the expected given levels. Raw material and component ordering, as well as forecasting activities. Keeps next level of management informed of any problems and/or issues by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plans and establishes production forecast for a defined segment of a manufacturing operation of moderate to high diversification.

Allocates to proper work center of department.

Monitors material inventories, tracks progress of production and reviews factors that affect schedules.

Makes necessary modifications to schedules as approved by a higher level employee.

Issues orders to the appropriate department when revisions are made to the schedule.

Works directly with supplier to resolve delivery problems.

Uses customer forecast to forecast and release firm order to material supplier; controls volume and timing.

Monitors inventory levels to min/max requirements and adjusts every quarter.

Monitors actual usage and defect rate from process and adjust standards as required.

Monitors supplier delivery performance.

Maintains pre-production tracking sheets to assure a smooth flow of material prior to SOP.

Weekly counts of build out material to assure absolescence at EOP.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook recommended, but not required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

High school diploma plus specialized training equal to two years of college and 3-5 years of experience.

Excel, Word and PowerPoint knowledge preferred.
