Job Summary: The Apprentice Shop Service Technician will assist the Shop Service Supervisor through on-the-job training (OJT) while learning and developing as a technician. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis:

3) Participate in ongoing self-development.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in performing maintenance and repair of rental fleet
- Assists with installation, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of mechanical and electrical components
- Examines and test equipment, components, and parts to ensure the proper functioning
- Adjusts, connects, or disconnects wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts
- Attends required classroom instructions by Pro-Tech and HDSI classes
- Maintains safety training and procedures
- Receives coaching, mentoring, and feedback from service leadership
- Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
- Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic and its applications
- Knowledge of computer software and hardware applications
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read, write, and interpret information
- Ability to follow directions and guidelines
- Ability to receive coaching, mentoring, and feedback from Service Leadership
- Ability to learn many different types of repair procedures on a variety of mechanical equipment

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Travel:
- Very limited travel and overnight stays are expected for this position
Physical Requirements:
- Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity necessary to operate equipment
- Routinely moves materials or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds
- Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
- Ascend/descend with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbing up and down ladders
- Be able to safely maneuver and work around equipment
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
Work Environment:
- Regularly works indoors and outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity
- Uses of hand and power tools to complete tasks
- Noise level may be loud at times and may be exposed to whole-body vibration
- Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment
- May spend time in stationary, confined, and high places
