The Advanced Design engineer in this role is expected dream about the future of TaylorMade drivers, fairway woods and hybrids.  This position will use a variety of skills and tools to design, analyze, prototype and test concepts that will feed into the product development of our next generation products.  These skills will include 3-D CAD modeling with Creo/Pro-E, FEA, hands-on testing, along with critical thinking and fast-paced problem solving. 

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and collaborate on new, creative ideas, acting with agility to iterate, test, and take risks.
  • Be consumed with making things better and have an insatiable curiosity for learning.
  • Utilize CAD skills (Creo/ProE) to create and develop new innovations and prototypes.
  • Use Hypermesh and ABAQUS to conduct advanced FEA.
  • Test with curiosity using in house lab capability and engaging in product testing of protoypes.
  • Collaborate within the team and cross-functionally to solve new problems.  Communicate progress and hand off learnings to downstream teams and to R&D stakeholders.
  • Support activity related to patent filing or patent researching.  Supply the legal team with design view renderings, mockups, and other information as needed for draft patents or patent infringement evaluation.
  • Continually develop better and faster ways of designing clubs using technology.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge and experience utilizing engineering fundamentals and testing methods.
  • Knowledge of CAD (Pro-E, Creo or equivalent software package).
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (Hyperworks, Abaqus or equivalent software package)
  • Experience in critical data analysis and statistical thinking (Hypothesis testing, Design of Experiments approaches (DOE))
  • Experience and knowledge of materials (carbon & stainless steels, titanium & aluminum alloys, polymers, and composites)
  • Experience and knowledge of manufacturing methods (investment casting, forging, machining, etching, welding, coating, injection molding, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills and collaboration mentality: must be fluent in English (written and oral), have excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization (e.g. marketing, sales, engineering, production, Tour reps, technicians, etc.)
  • Various analytical skills and software experience a plus (Matlab, Minitab, Life Data Analysis)
  • Passion for the game of golf, deep knowledge of golf principles and terminology required (<10 golf handicap preferred)

Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field (Masters preferred).
  • 3-10 years of engineering experience directly related to above responsibilities
  • Experience in setting up and designing tests, testing equipment and fixtures with a “hands-on” mentality

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment; heavy phone and computer usage
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary
  • Occasional domestic and international travel required
  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials

TaylorMade is a performance driven organization and our total rewards approach tocompensation is designed to support this. We consider many factors in determining basecompensation, including position scope, job related knowledge, education, skills, experience, andwork location. The expectedannualbase pay range for this position is$85,000 to $115,000.Additional benefits, such as health & wellness, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays,paid time off, etc. may also be offered in accordance with our plans.
