- Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Mid-Career (3) Equipment & Tooling Engineer in North Charleston, SC.
- This position supports Client South Carolina 787 Aft Body, Mid Body, and Final Assembly Business Units with Equipment & Tool Engineering work statement.
- Primary Responsibilities:
- Evaluates program and project requirements, develops complex equipment and tooling concepts, and designs solutions for the Production System.
- Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and rate estimates, identifies robotics, automation, or technology recommendations, and system integration for equipment and tooling.
- Ensures compliance with safety, capability, reliability, ergonomic factors, and regulatory requirements.
- Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, and prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares. Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel.
- Develops and implements work-arounds and maintains the hardware, software, and documentation configuration.
- Performs studies and makes a recommendation for disposition of assets.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
- Project management skill-set with interpersonal soft skills
- Communication through verbal, e-mail, and technical documentation mediums
- Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Project assignments will be dependent upon candidate's primary skill set and experience - tool design, stress analysis, or software / metrology
- Proficiency in Model-Based Definition and Drawing-Based Definition utilizing CATIA V5 with configuration management in ENOVIA
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Working knowledge with any one or more of the following programming languages - C#, Python, Javascript
- Experience with stress analysis hand calculations and results validation with any one or more of the following programs - RISA, Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys, Autodesk
- Familiarity with metrology equipment and software, such as SpatialAnalyzer
- Experience providing product definitions and technical support to groups, suppliers, and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
Typical Education/Experience:
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
