Job Description

Position Summary

Responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, testing, analyzing, maintaining, repairing, and training of Syntegon packaging equipment and associated products, to ensure minimal downtime, maximum production efficiencies and efficient operation of customer equipment, while being backed by a team of Syntegon experts. Primary focus is to provide customers with excellent technical customer service and ensure complete satisfaction. This position has a direct and significant impact on maintaining our customer base as well as growing new business for Syntegon Technology Services

Key Responsibilities

  • Participates in internal, external, and vendor training to maintain and further develop level of technical expertise and proficiency.
  • Performs assembly, installation, startup, modernization upgrades, commissioning and production support at customer sites.
  • Performs service work, including troubleshooting and preventative maintenance at customer sites.
  • Provides training for customers on proper operation, machinery updates/modifications, maintenance, operational health and safety requirements of packaging machinery.
  • Provides support to customer operations with needed adjustments and settings on equipment to ensure optimized performance.
  • Support final machine checkout at Factory Acceptance Test at Syntegon.
  • Represents the company to customers and colleagues in a professional manner acting as an ambassador for Syntegon ensuring good working relationships with the customer and Syntegon colleagues and that Syntegon’s reputation is sustained.
  • Maintain and contribute to a well-organized working environment at both company and customer facilities.
  • Observes all health and safety regulations for Syntegon and the Customer informs supervisor of any issues.
  • Execute and complete all relevant reports in an accurate and timely manner. Distribute reports according to existing procedures and ensure that proper handover is done.
  • Report about any sales opportunity discovered at the customer site through the relevant channels.
  • Inform relevant Syntegon Field Staff about ongoing service activities as well as issues affecting the customer or the quality of Syntegon Service.
  • Travel up to 80% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements                                                                                                

  • Must possess an Associate's degree or 2-year technical college diploma in Mechatronics or Automation or equivalent experience working in the packaging industry.
  • Must have at least 3 years of work experience in the packaging industry or comparable automated industrial equipment.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working with PC’s and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in English language, reading and writing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • ability to collaborate with other functions and foster teamwork.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, detail oriented.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff experience is a plus.
  • Additional language skills a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Work in tight quarters; on top of and underneath packaging equipment.
  • Stand, stoop, kneel and bend continuously while working on equipment (66% of the time).
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Submit to safety, background and drug/alcohol testing as required by Syntegon or our customers 
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.

Additional Information

The expected compensation range for this position is between $75,000-$95,000 based on a full-time schedule.

Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience. At Syntegon compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Total rewards at Syntegon include salary + bonus (if applicable) + benefits.
