Job Description
SUMMARY:
Primary objectives include driving the sales process from lead generation through order intake for US-built and imported aseptic fill finish and Inspection equipment. Also includes facilitating Syntegon’s resources to improve customer satisfaction. Conduct sales related activities between customer and the company to determine customer needs, engineering specifications, design modifications and other technical issues pertaining to products and services offered within the Syntegon portfolio. This position will be based in a home office within the Great Lakes sales region.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers and prospects. Determine competitive situation and develop strategies to facilitate short and long-term sales and customer satisfaction.
- Cultivate a positive image with the customer to gain confidence in Syntegon’s pharmaceutical liquid fill finish and Inspection products to become the preferred vendor.
- Conduct sales calls through personal visits and telephone screening with customers and prospects within the Great Lakes territory.
- Work closely with customer's engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing personnel to plan, organize, make recommendations, and evaluate specifications for machinery requirements.
- Provide accurate and complete information to assist with the preparation of quotes. Review all quotes prior to presentation to customer.
- Advise the Product Management / Application Engineers of specific conditions or issues specific to the project to enable them to resolve unusual engineering and design variations.
- Provide assistance, support, and consultation to application engineering team and customer during the project cycle. Attend important project meetings; participate in key decisions.
- Prepare administrative reports including sales call reports, sales forecasts, and documentation related to customer's projects, procedures, and the industry. Maintain and update the computer-based CRM (Customer Relationship Management) sales information and planning system.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Syntegon pharmaceutical liquid products and capabilities to keep customers informed of new products or technologies.
- Monitor and work with Syntegon resources to enhance customer satisfaction with accounts in assigned territory.
- Support our aftermarket parts and customer service support teams to ensure excellent aftermarket support and total customer satisfaction.
- Represent Syntegon at various trade shows and conventions.
- Continually work on improving technical knowledge and understanding of products sold and customer manufacturing processes.
- Work closely with PHLI Sales Director, Center of Competence Sales management and product management / application engineering to develop short and long-range sales strategies for current and new products.
- Provide feedback to PHLI Sales Director, Center of Competence Sales management and product management / application engineering department on industry trends and competition.
- Ability to work out of home and travel a minimum of 50% of the work-year.
- Actively lead and participate in Continuous Improvement of processes
Qualifications
Position Requirements:
- 5+ previous years of sales/marketing experience required
- Proven experience selling in the industrial pharmaceutical capital equipment industry
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree and at least 5+ year of sales experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or at least 10+ years of overall sales experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing
Preferred QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- Experience with pharmaceutical industry helpful
- Experience in the industrial capital equipment industry preferred
- Previous territory management experience.
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to work under pressure to execute moderate to high capital sales transactions
- Knowledge or experience in FDA (Food and Drug Administration), diagnostic or pharmaceutical area helpful
- Strong skills in self-organization and independent work
- Excellent service orientation with customers and company employees
- Patience and tenacity to endure a long-term sales cycle and success with establishing new customer contacts
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% time
- Excellent customer relationship skills
- German language skills a plus
- Strong comfort level with complex systems and processes
- Continuous improvement mind-set
- Strong negotiation skills
Additional Information
The expected compensation range for this position is between $100,000 - 140,000 based on a full-time schedule.
Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience. At Syntegon compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Total rewards at Syntegon include salary + bonus (if applicable) + benefits.
