Overview
POSITION SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to strengthen the nursing workforce by serving as a role model and providing the leadership needed to implement evidence-based practice.
This is a 100% ON-SITE ROLE (NO REMOTE). This is a Monday-Friday role, no weekends or holidays required; typical hours depending on instruction schedule will be 7AM-3PM or 8AM-4:30PM EST.
This is a non-clinical role; some local travel will be required (mileage allowance, lodging and daily meal stipend will be offered)
Responsibilities
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee student compliance with the NATCEP policies and procedure, following disciplinary actions when appropriate, and consulting Director or acting Director when required.
- Conduct teaching in the classroom, laboratory setting, and clinical setting
- Contact clinical site one week prior to review schedule and coordinate “hands on” clinical experiences for students
- Maintain daily attendance record for each class
- Complete Performance Checklist and Clinical Evaluations for each student
- Provide ongoing research for updated and pertinent information, videos, and/or movies for class
- Provide student counseling, coaching, and/or mentoring
- Resource to inquirers, candidates, and graduates
- Hold mock tests to prepare students for National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) competency exam.
- Coordinate each class graduation ceremony
- Maintain cleanliness and security of classrooms and HVA building
- Function as a positive role model for HVA, students, and facilities
- Attend yearly conference Strategies: Educational Excellence for Healthcare Providers and Educators, as well as other seminars that would benefit the instruction of nurse aide training
- Teach new educational programs as planned
- Participate in staff meetings to review the Nurse Aide Training Program and make recommendations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Frequently standing and/or sitting for extended periods of
- Medium work with ability to exert/lift up to 50
- Must have close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, view a computer monitor, and read extensively.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
To perform this job successfully, the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily is necessary and the qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Registered Nurse; minimum two years - REQUIRED
- Long-term care; minimum one-year (direct patient care) - REQUIRED
- Valid state registered nursing
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational
- Exceptional time management and planning
- Management Experience
- Experience training adults
- NATCEP “Teach-the-Educator” workshop (will considering sponsoring this certification)
- Superior verbal and written communication
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Knowledge of curriculum development, adult learning needs, and teaching strategies
- Comply with TB testing according to the policy of the nursing facility
