Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac, orthopedic, nephrology, urology, and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic, orthopedic, urology, and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms, 4 fully operating OR rooms, 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room, 11-day surgery rooms, 58 acute care beds spread over three units, and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. LHSH Nursing Administration: Full Time
Job Summary
Primarily responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations of an assigned area. Participates in direct care about 75% of the time, with the remaining 25% involving managerial tasks. Collaborates with other staff in sharing of resources, as well as assists in the cross-functional training of the staff. Assumes the leader role in the hospital during his/her shift.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited program of nursing
- Minimum of 3 years’ continuous clinical experience in a critical/acute care setting with at least 2 years of recent management experience preferred.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Texas.
Your Essential Job Functions
- Patient Care: • Actively participates in administering patient care and management of related services.• Coordinates the admission, discharge and transfer of patients in collaboration with other team leaders; ensure appropriate patient status is documented in patient chart. • Assists families and patients in teaching the skills necessary for successful post-discharge care.• Assures that patient equipment and supplies are available and in operating condition. • Performs clinical quality improvement activities such as patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, and staff satisfaction surveying as necessary. Identifies and implements corrective actions as necessary. • Possesses the knowledge of growth and development of appropriate patient populations. • Maintains the responsibility for professional growth and development. Staff/Unit Responsibilities:• Delegates appropriately to non-licensed staff in keeping with job descriptions, licenses requirements and standards of practice. • Participates in peer review. • Participates in developing other staff and affiliating students. • Maintains and develops own professional competencies. • Maintains and promotes a team spirit through active cooperation and collaboration. • Assists in interdepartmental service coordination. • Actively participates in the Performance Improvement and Utilization Review programs. • Assumes a leader role in the maintenance of the patient-focused care delivery system. • Assists in directing and guiding staff in the coordination of unit operations. • Assists in all aspects of care if the environment, such as dietary, housekeeping, infection control, and supply and equipment management. • Attends 80% of in-services and departmental meetings. • Help provide staff to other areas of the hospital when needed.• Maintains positive relationships with internal and external customers.Is effective in interacting with others and problem solving• Proactive in meeting customer’s needs. Responds promptly to customer needs or requests• Keeps Directors informed of problems, recommends solutions.• Participates in education/development of peers and other staff
