Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Quality, the Registered Nurse Educator serves as a hospital-wide specialist in the design, development, provision, evaluation, and review of education while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
Hours:
- 1.0 FTE - 40 hours per week
- Monday though Friday
- Day Shift
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for the coordination and provision of education
- Oversees, develops, and facilitates new hire and clinical orientation
- Develops and facilitates annual provider education
- Facilitates the unit-based and house-wide annual and ongoing education and competency validations
- Assures compliance with local, state, federal guidelines and regulations governing hospitals through collaborative communication with leadership
- Develops, coordinates, and documents computer-based learning assignments
- Oversees BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications and programming
- Chairs and facilitates the Education Council and Medical Emergency committee
- Follows up with staff directly when educational components become due
- Meets with all new hire clinical staff to identify additional educational opportunities needed or requested
- Meets with clinical managers monthly to discuss educational opportunities and needs for the department
- Creates education for departments as needed
- Rounds weekly throughout the hospital to check-in with staff and provide educational opportunities
- Attends individual staff meetings and in-services to be available to assist
- Be available for on-demand educational needs for the entire hospital
- Works with department educators to facilitate education
- Collects, maintains, and reports data as required
- Regular and prompt work-site attendance
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge & Ability:
- Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
- Current licensure as RN in the State of Wisconsin
- BLS certification is required upon hire
- Educator experience required
- Experience in program development is preferred
- Two (2) years of CCU/ICU experience preferred
- Master’s in education preferred
- Will become a BLS instructor within 1 year of hire
- Ability to relate and work effectively with others
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards
- Experience using Microsoft Office products is preferred
- Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement
- Previous experience working in a hospital environment is required
- Is aware of professional standards and performs in accordance with them
