This is a part time role with a non-operative spine team and will provide services throughout Summit. Part time is defined as a 0.6 FTE or 24 hours per week; flexible with off day with. Primary locations will be the Vadnais Heights and Woodlake campuses. Flexibility to accommodate bi-weekly outreach clinics to Osceola or Baldwin, WI as needed. May include hospital rounding.
This Nurse Practitioner will support a non-operative Spine Provider. The Advanced Practice Provider of this team works alongside the physician treating patients with cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine pathology. Treating acute and chronic conditions with more of an emphasis on non-surgical treatments of spine conditions. The role works with the physician in clinic and would progress to some independent clinic time after onboarding. The role also has a rotation of call responsibilities with the spine service line.
The Nurse Practitioner practices medicine with physician supervision including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions. Additionally the Nurse Practitioner will assist with rooming of patients, assisting physician with clinic, documenting patient encounter in the electronic medical record, providing timely dictation of clinic notes and downloads each day as appropriate. The Nurse Practitioner will also assist in the initial evaluation and treatment of new patients and returning patients including:
o Recording patient history
o Performing physical examinations
o Reviewing medications, lab work, radiology reports and films
o Establishing activity and work restrictions and/or return to work plans
o Recommendations for functional capacity evaluations
o Assessing the need for physical therapy or other therapies and placing orders
o Recommendation for diagnostic and/or therapeutic injections
o Recommendation for surgical consultation
