Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AFSIM Model Developer to join our team, contributing to the development and enhancement of the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM). This government-owned, open-source simulation framework plays a critical role in defense and military analytics, offering multi-domain capabilities from sub-surface to space, including electronic warfare (EW) and cyber operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in modern C++ programming, object-oriented design, and experience in scripting languages for scenario construction and customization. This position involves working within a dynamic, community-informed environment to support the needs of Modeling and Simulation (MS&A) initiatives.
Required Skills/Education:
- Develop and enhance multi-resolution models ranging from detailed physics-based to simple effects representations of platforms, sensors, communication systems, and weapons.
- Utilize modern C++ and object-oriented design principles to create and maintain simulation "building blocks" within a flexible plug-in API framework.
- Develop script-based definitions of behaviors, tactics, and command structures using a JavaScript-like language, enabling analysts to customize controls without modifying core C++ code.
- Implement realistic agent modeling architectures to accurately represent tactics and behaviors in various military domains.
- Collaborate with the analytic community to transition the creation of tactics and behaviors from software developers to analysts.
- Contribute to the development of "box-set" models and scenarios, including ground, surface, undersea, and air-to-air combat capabilities, as well as advanced space operations modeling.
- Utilize AFSIM's suite of supporting tools, including the Wizard IDE, Mystic for recording and visualization, and Warlock for operator-in-the-loop support.
- Integrate AFSIM models with other simulations via Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) or High-Level Architecture (HLA) links.
Additional Desired Skills
- Experience with TMAP and ITASE
Education: Bachelors in Engineering
Years of Experience: 5 to 10 years
Travel: Yes
Security Clearance Required: TS/SCI
Position Type: Full Time
Work Location: Wright Patterson AFB, OH
