Summary
The Public Finance Vice President represents Stifel in front of current and prospective clients. The Vice President will assume some business development responsibilities, including new business and revenue generation, coordinates and runs client meetings, transaction processes and conference calls for mid to small-sized clients. They will perform complex analytical work and directs junior staff on large projects. Develops firm arrangements for conferences and coordinates work on proposals and presentations. Includes professionals (often part-time) who work exclusively to initiate or maintain client contacts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Develop client relationships, including revenue generation (new deal flow) and business development.
•Develop financial analyses for bond issuance including revenue models, amortizations, debt profiles and the analysis of refinancing and borrowing.
•Research and analyze client needs and opportunities and develops recommended financing plans.
•Generate creative and innovative ideas that meet clients’ financial needs.
•Design, prepare or oversee preparation of client pitchbooks and RFP responses.
•Complete or oversees all tasks related to completion of bond transactions.
•Review and comments on bond documents.
•Lead conference calls and meetings relating to transactions and has significant direct client contact.
•Coordinate with financial advisors, attorneys and other professionals to complete bond transactions.
•Attend client meetings and conferences to help develop and maintain client relationships.
•Selectively, identify and pursue Public Finance origination of new and repeat business.
•Train, mentor and serve as a role model for junior bankers.
•Some travel by car and/or air in conjunction with local, regional and/or national travel, up to 30-50% of time.
Qualifications
•Strong knowledge and understanding of the municipal bond market, how bonds are underwritten and distributed.
•Strong understanding of the fundamental finance concepts, practices and procedures used in the municipal securities industry.
•Strong understanding and skill in quantitative financial analysis and data modeling with advanced Excel skills desirable.
•Strong interpersonal interaction and able to work well with others. Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
•Proven ability to prioritize competing priorities; work under stress created by time deadlines and work volume fluctuations.
•Ability to prepare and deliver clear, effective and professional presentations.
•Works independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment; manages priorities, deadlines and tasks in order to meet deadlines and accomplish goals.
•Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify complex problems; review related information and develop options and implement solutions.
•Strong ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Education and Experience
•Minimum Required: Bachelor’s degree
•Minimum Required: 5+ years investment banking experience
Licenses and Credentials
•Minimum Required: Series 63, 52, (or 7 if grandfathered)
Systems and Technology
•Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
•Understand and be able to apply use of financial databases including EMMA, Bloomberg, TM3 and Securities Data Corp.
•Understand and be able to direct and interpret DBC and other bond sizing software
