Job Description

Square Financial Services, Inc ("SFS") is Block's Bank. The SFS Product team is building a modern bank with the massive benefit and unique advantage to use the technology, services, and expertise that exists within Block today. We do this by using SFS's unique position as the chartered Bank with direct access to Fedline Financial Services, federal regulators and shared services and technology within Block.

As an SFS Product Manager you will report to the Bank's Head of Product and Strategy and work with our technology team to support bank operations and to enable the Bank to achieve the business objectives and growth initiatives. Your primary customers are the internal SFS teams across finance, compliance, and risk and the Block developers that integrate with external Banks. The team is based throughout the United States and open to remote applicants. The bank itself is in Mountain Time.

You Will:

  • Set the Bank's product strategy and roadmap for the Bank's platform technology and infrastructure.
  • Execute on the Bank's roadmap with the Bank's engineering team to develop the necessary capabilities and tooling to operate the bank.
  • Collaborate with the Bank's strategy team to ensure the Bank's capabilities support the business development pipeline.
  • Develop an understanding of the bank's internal customers and jobs to be done across finance, compliance, risk, and operations.
  • Partner with the Block business teams to ensure the Bank's Finance and Treasury teams have complete and accurate financial data. Identify opportunities for self-serve and automated solutions to money movement, reconciliation, reporting and accounting.
  • Build upon our "Bank Operating Platform" supporting ACH operations with the Federal Reserve, settlement, reporting, reconciliation and other technical infrastructure needs of the bank.
  • Understand the needs of Block's product teams and where the Bank can help our shared end customers.
  • Define new capabilities for the Bank to unlock opportunities across the Block ecosystem.

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 8+ years of product management or equivalent experience on a software platform serving financial services, banking, or payments.
  • Experience setting a platform vision and delivering complex projects involving many disciplines.
  • Experience working with a high-performing team of software engineers, using Agile software development practices.
  • Relevant domain experience of financial service operations.

Even Better:

  • Experience building partner bank software integrations
  • Familiarity with developer tooling, platforms, APIs or SDKs.
  • Technical experience or education in software engineering or a related discipline.
  • Financial operations knowledge either in the form of your formal education or in a product management/engineering capacity in a current or past role.

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $180,000 - USD $270,000
Zone B: USD $171,000 - USD $256,600
Zone C: USD $162,000 - USD $243,000
Zone D: USD $153,000 - USD $229,600
