As Southeast Orthopedic Specialists continues to grow, we are looking for a Maintenance and Materials Technician for our Jacksonville and St. Augustine, FL locations! Please see below for the functions and requirements for this position:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Responsible for general repairs and preventative maintenance of furniture, fixtures, and equipment at all clinics and Company
Headquarters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Meets with the Facilities Manager to discuss special needs, problems and assignments.
  • Performs routine walk-through inspections at all facilities to identify safety or maintenance issues. Communicates findingsto the Facilities Manager.
  • Records and reports deficiencies in the Service Desk Request system to the Facilities Manager.
  • Installs new equipment. Regularly assembles, moves, installs fixtures, and furniture.
  • Repairs desks, file cabinets, chairs, furniture, and fixtures. Touches up paint.
  • Responds to emergency or urgent issues during and after hours.
  • Efficiently moves employees, supplies, and storage items to new spaces.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of inventories. Maintains equipment files.
  • Works with the Facilities Manager on new construction or remodel projects.
  • Communicates through written and verbal means with vendors and Property Management companies.
  • Attends meetings as required.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum two years of maintenance experience.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing goodworking relationships with both internal and external customers.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess a valid, state-issued drivers’ license.
  • Must pass motor vehicle record check.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of common safety codes, hazards, and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Knowledge of cleaning standards, methods, and materials.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance concepts.

SKILLS

  • Communicate effectively with Managers, Executives, and Practice Managers regarding projects and repair problems.
  • Skill in operating equipment and using precision tools to repair furniture and fixtures.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office to include, Excel and work order systems.
  • Perform minor painting and carpentry, including preparing surfaces, replacing drywall, and repairing or replacing carpets

ABILITIES

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
  • Take initiative and effectively adapt to change.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels.
  • May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions.
  • Exposure to chemicals, mechanical and electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes.
  • Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit. Frequently must squat, stoop, or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Daily uses hand strength to grasp tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Occasionally climbs ladders.
