Outline of Essential Job Responsibilities/Functions to Include but Not Limited to:

Customer Care and Relationships:

1. Creates, develops and nurtures culturally-appropriate interactions and connections with each other, customer-owners and the community.

2. Models appropriate behaviors, attitudes, and skills consistently that support full customer ownership of all health issues. Identifies, develops, and shares skills used to:

· Develop effective health partnerships with customers and their families fostering the customer’s independence, growth and development, and overall wellbeing.

· Build positive relationships with customers, clinical team, and interdisciplinary team members.

3. Demonstrates and facilitates exemplary customer service and satisfaction.

4. Consults and coordinates with health care providers working in other departments and in other locations.

5. Provides assistance to the health care providers by answering questions regarding customer-owner care.

6. May deliver case management and supportive services to customer-owners.

Communications and Teamwork:

1. Shares and receives information, opinions, concerns and feedback in a supportive manner.

2. Works collaboratively by building bridges and creating rapport with team members within departments and across the organization.

3. Communicates effectively with staff members in different forums using multiple mediums:

· Demonstrates excellent facilitator skills in one-on-one discussions with staff and in-group settings.

· Willing to conduct training on “core” behavioral health skills and presentations on a variety of BH topics.

· Receives and provides constructive feedback to enhance individual development, team maturity, and performance.

4. Formally mentors and clinically supervises staff:

· Provides face-to-face clinical supervision with unlicensed Clinicians.

· Conducts regularly scheduled group supervision for both licensed and unlicensed Clinicians.

· Provides supervision and clinical oversight to student interns.

· Assists in the evaluation of Clinicians; their effectiveness, organizational skills, and team functions; and gives constructive feedback.

· Acts as a resource for Clinicians and support staff in the clinic for nursing and system issues or questions.

5. Communicates with staff on a regular basis to illicit issues, questions, training needs, or best practices.

6. Coordinates team building opportunities for clinical staff as needed.

Improvement and Innovation:

1. Makes meaningful improvement to services, program and processes and/or organizational effectiveness that creates new value for customer-owners and employees.

2. Assists with department, division, and corporate-wide quality projects as needed:

· Works with assigned staff to define pilot goals and measurements effectively using SCF quality tools.

· Works with assigned staff to address perceived barriers to improvement projects and uses active listening to refocus or clarify goals.

3. Engages actively to mentor other Clinicians in leadership and communication skills.

4. Demonstrates an excellent understanding of SCF improvement tools and demonstrates the ability to use them in their own practice as well as mentor others in their use.

5. Collects data to improve access and the quality of services.

Qualifications:

SCF programs are established to serve a primary population comprised of Alaska Native people who are affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF’s geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population. Such knowledge is critical to ensure the achievement of SCF’s vision of a Native Community that enjoys physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness, and mission of working together with the Native Community to achieve wellness through health and related services:

1. Master’s degree in behavioral health field including Counseling, Psychology or Social Work; or PhD or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.

2. Current License as an LPC, LMFT, LCSW or Psychologist.

3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO and PALS as required for specialty and any certification relating to the scope of practice as required.

4. Three (3) years of Clinical experience or demonstrated proficiency as a Clinician II at SCF.

5. Obtain an Approved Counselor Supervisor Certification from the Alaska Board of Professional Counselors within two years of hire.

Masters or better in Counseling or related field.
