SOME (So Others Might Eat) is seeking a part-time Cardiologist or Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (CVNP) to support our Primary Care Medical Clinic, located at 60 O Street, NW - Washington, DC 20001 so that we are able to increase access to care for vulnerable populations within the District of Columbia. Other providers in the fully integrated clinic are Primary Care physicians, NPs, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, therapists, as well as nurses and medical assistants.

Position Description: The Cardiologist or Cardiovascular Nurse Practitioner (CVNP) at SOME, Inc. will diagnose, treat, and send clients for outside referrals for medical conditions such as myocardial infarction, heart failure, aneurysms, arrhythmia, coronary artery disease, and congenital heart defects. In the outpatient setting, like SOME’s FQHC, the cardiac contractor will provide diagnosis, treatment, education, and preventive care.

Additionally, the provider will follow, monitor, and/or practice chronic disease management for patients with complex cardiovascular disease. The cardiac provider at SOME, Inc. must be aware that they may be the primary treatment option for patients, especially for vulnerable individuals in underserved areas. Therefore, in addition to performing therapeutic procedures, the provider will work with clients to educate them about heart health and chronic disease management.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 2:30 pm (flex schedule, your choice of days/times); 12 - 16 hours/week

Requirements for Contractor:

  • Board Certification
  • Current and unencumbered license
  • At least 5 years of experience practicing cardiology

Baseline Client Meeting and Diagnosis

  • H&P
  • EKG, and interpretation of
  • Labs

Outside Referrals for

  • Echocardiogram
  • Stress testing
  • Cardiac MRI
  • Cardiac Catheterization

Create Plans of Care, Collaborate with other Clinic Providers

  • Treatments include HTN and cardiac rhythm monitoring and interventions. Education to clients is a large part of this role. Being a champion for medication compliance and cardiac education is a large part of this role.
