Job Description

Candidates in Durham, NC; Chicago, IL; Milwaukee, WI; Greensboro, NC; Westchester, OH; Seattle, WA are highly preferred.

This is a Platform Wide position responsible for facilitating & coordinating the Quality Management System (QMS) and Operational Excellence initiatives across the Packaging and Retail Solutions platform to optimize and improve manufacturing operations, focusing on compliance, quality assurance, customer satisfaction, waste reduction and productivity.
This leadership position will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful implementation of the supporting Quality and CI programs, process improvements, and innovative technologies to achieve operational excellence. This will include tracking progress, identifying opportunities, and ensuring resources are deployed in the most efficient manner.

This is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing the company's quality strategy to ensure the delivery of high-quality products/services. They oversee all aspects of quality management, driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This position will work closely with the leadership of each platform as well as at the plant leadership level to ensure successful Coordination and Tracking of Lean Manufacturing, including OE Dashboard
& Metrics, Best Practice sharing, CI Tools, KPI Monitoring and Training & Development.


This role will be responsible for directly impacting the platforms overall strategic direction by:

  • Implement color management methodological support
  • Standardize the quality resolution process (RCAs, Corrective & Preventive action plans)
  • Standardize the QC process as much as practical
  • Support new product introductions. Standardize the procedures as much as practical
  • Changing the culture to one of continuously improving operational performance and achieving operational excellence in all facets of manufacturing.
  • Help define and achieve operational KPIs for each business
  • Assist in sharing best practices across the Platform and across RRD
  • Lead and mentor a team of quality & CI managers and specialists to ensure efficient execution of quality projects & initiatives.
  •  Driving change in the company's direction through platform wide QMS & CI training and developing and rolling out critical state-of-the-art manufacturing improvement programs
  • Providing strategic leadership, through the development and execution of a comprehensive manufacturing excellence strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives
  • Driving strategic company financial improvements by opening up machine capacity, reducing waste and the need for additional capital spending, reducing the overall manufacturing footprint, and lowering overall operating costs

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design and implementation of quality management systems, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and standards.
  • Accountable for the site team's progress, training plans, methodology implementation, and rapid rollout across the organization.
  • Work with sites to identify, assess, and implement process improvements to enhance
  • production efficiency, reduce waste, and increase overall output.
  • Provide ongoing feedback on the site team's activities regarding goals and plans.
  • Oversee the completion, compilation, and analysis of results to ensure effective project implementation
  • Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and measure
  • operational performance against established targets and benchmarks.
  • Organizes and coordinates multiple Department/Plant Project teams (operations and engineering), to meet results and timelines
  • Provides leadership and direction for the improvement of systems, technical and infrastructure processes across the platform
  • Coordinates all CI projects with teams, reviews progress, and evaluates results
  • Prepares and delivers management-level reports on progress and facilitates changes in plans to mitigate risks
  • Develops, monitors, and implements standardized Best Practice projects and processes company-wide
  • Resolves priority issues and conflicts and works through all levels of the organization to remove barriers to progress
  • Collaborate with others to ensure the applicability and effectiveness of the process and capital improvements across multiple functional areas
  • Other responsibilities as assigned based on skillset and business need
  • The position is expected to travel 40%-50%.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • 7+ years experience in quality assurance roles and regulatory affairs roles
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment or in a project management capacity related to the implementation of a Quality Management system, Lean Manufacturing or 6 Sigma projects
  • Ability to coordinate activities across the organization and multiple manufacturing platforms
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen and good grasp on P&L reporting
  • Must have excellent change management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across the entire Organization and multiple functional areas
  • Strong coaching and people development and training skills
  • Good grasp of manufacturing processes, operations, and plant key performance indicators
  • Self-motivated and driven to achieve results
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn continuous improvement methodologies
  • Manufacturing plant leadership strongly preferred
  • Culture change management experience preferred
  • Blackbelt or Greenbelt certification is strongly preferred
  • Microsoft Excel, PPT, proficiency required, PM tool such as MS Projects preferred
  • Minitab Preferred

Additional Information

The national pay range for this role is $129,900 to $265,100 / year. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
