Sidwell Friends School, a co-educational Quaker day school with campuses in Bethesda, MD, and Washington, DC, seeks a 5th Grade Homeroom Teacher who genuinely appreciates the Quaker philosophy that underlies the school.
Reporting to the Middle School Principal, the successful candidate must be skilled in teaching math, social studies, and language arts, understand the grades 5-8 age group, work cooperatively with other teachers, and is excited about working with children from diverse backgrounds. The fifth grade teacher is expected to teach an advisory program and communicate thoroughly with parents.
Qualifications & Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree is required and must be conferred by the position's start date. A master’s in education is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of upper elementary experience is preferred.
- Active CPR certification or can quickly obtain one.
- Ability to work in-person Monday - Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Teaching positions at Sidwell Friends School are campus-based and in-person. This position is based on the Washington, D.C. campus and begins in August 2024.
