Required Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a chassis/trailer mechanic
  • Certification is a plus ( IICL, DOT)
  • ASI brake certification (huge plus)
  • Must have own tools (up to 1/2" drive)                                
  •  Traits:--Self Started, Team player and organized.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily duties include but not limited to the following:

-          Chassis lighting and wiring repair

-          Welding/ oxygen acetylene 

-          Tire replacement

-          Troubleshooting electrical system and ABS (Anti-lock Brake System)

-          Air Brake system repair and replacement

-          Yearly federal inspections of chassis

_          Operate appropriate powered industrial equipment as required

_          Major/Minor structural chassis repairs

_             Keeps maintenance and repair records

_             Complete all appropriate paperwork in a timely and legible manner

_             Perform systematic preventive maintenance that incorporates industry best practices

--          Daily housekeeping

Specifically, candidates must have experience replacing brakes/drums/tires, air lines, lighting/wiring, and bumpers. Most of their time will be taken up repairing brakes on the chassis/trailer making sure it is up to proper standards.
