THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL
Sciens Building Solutions seeks an Estimator with the ideal candidate being a driven individual who will play a key role in Sciens’ growth by developing and maintaining customer relationships, bidding projects accurately and on time, while developing comprehensive low voltage estimates for K-12, commercial, and federal projects.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (and doing well!)
- Manage the estimating lifecycle from beginning to end, including timelines, deadlines, and estimating packages.
- Work within an estimating team on individual or team-based projects.
- Coordinate total estimating efforts relevant to particular bid or project.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships.
- Meet Company budget volume and gross margin targets.
- Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on complex projects.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required content of project estimates. Perform necessary research to produce accurate, complete, and competitive pricing.
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work using estimating software.
- Reviewing all project requirements and specifications when preparing estimates and proposals.
- Determine any risks related to the estimate and include in project proposals.
- Ensure that estimates and proposals are complete, well-organized, and ready for review before the given deadline.
- Prepare project proposals and participate in pre-bid review process where necessary.
- Maintain files of working documents as back-ups. Coordinate with the field operations team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team.
- Partner with our operations teams to properly transfer awarded projects.
- Communicate with customers to properly define the project scope, address deficiencies, and negotiate pricing.
WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU
- Two to five years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry.
- Strong technical understanding of materials and methods used in the installation of construction projects.
- Customer-focused, skilled in estimating and people management.
- Ability to manage project bidding in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
- Able to read blueprints, technical drawings, and diagrams; and follow specifications.
- Able to work independently.
- Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude.
- Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
- Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation.
