Assistant Teacher

Kids In Action seeks a nurturing and creative person who is able to assist the students in a variety of activities and who can work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

1. Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children. Monitor behavior and assist children to follow the rules
2. When required, work as a 1:1 with children needing support
3. Assist in planning developmentally appropriate activities.
4. Help children to engage in activities and promote positive interactions with others.
5. Implement daily activities set forth by the teachers
6. Participate in all activities and maintain enthusiasm as an example for the children.
7. Keep KIA space and assigned housekeeping areas clean, neat and organized. Participate equally in the daily set-up and breakdown of the physical shared space. Assist in the preparation and clean-up of daily snacks and materials.
8. Participate in ten hours of Professional Development, related to Early Childhood Development and Curriculum.
9. Complete ten hours of EEC StrongStart Professional Development.
10. Complete First Aid and CPR training annually.
11. Attend Staff Meetings.

Locations: East Elementary, Foster Elementary, Plymouth River Elementary, South ElementaryQualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
2. A minimum of 2 years experience as an assistant teacher or similar role.
3. Compassionate and positive attitude.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Cooperative and flexible
6. Physically able to set up and take down folding tables.
7. Physically able to lift items up to 20lbs
8. Clear all HPS and EEC Background checks
