As a Civil Engineering Student Intern, you’ll work side-by-side with experienced professionals, supporting the design and construction of vital infrastructure. You’ll gain exposure to both field and office environments, develop technical skills, and build relationships with engineers, contractors, and city officials. Goals & Responsibilities

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Support the inspection of sewer, water, and paving construction projects to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Use measuring tools to verify materials, line, and grade accuracy
  • Maintain accurate records and update project documentation using electronic reporting software
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and city staff to keep projects on track
  • Respond to public inquiries and help address construction-related concerns
  • Work outdoors on real-world infrastructure projects that improve communities
  • Communicate effectively with diverse project teams
  • Apply academic knowledge to practical engineering challenges
  • Assist with both field and office tasks as needed
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and attention to detail to support project success

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering or a related field
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Good communication skills for interacting with project managers, contractors, and the public
  • Basic math skills for measurements and estimations
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Experience with construction, surveying, or CAD software is a plus, but not required
