RTI International seeks a prospect for the RTI-Health Solutions Rotational Spring Internship within Health Solutions (HS).
This internship is a contract position. The employment contract is administered by Greene Resources Powered by Array, RTI’s supplemental staffing partner.
RTI Health Solutions, a business unit of RTI International, is currently seeking candidates for an internship in the Health Preference Assessment (HPA) program. The intern will join a team of economists conducting high-quality preference research in a collegial working environment. The HPA Group specializes in developing surveys to elicit and quantify preferences of patients, physicians, and other health-care stakeholders for features and outcomes of medical and pharmaceutical interventions using rigorous stated-preference methods. The studies apply discrete-choice experiments, threshold technique, best-worst scaling, contingent behavior and contingent-valuation methods. HPA staff members are internationally recognized thought leaders in this research area and their work is published in high-level clinical and health-economic journals.
This intern will assist senior researchers and project managers in all aspects of study design and implementation as part of a research team. The intern will be encouraged to contribute research ideas and solutions to conceptual and analytical problems. Significant contributions will earn co-authorship on conference presentations and publications in scientific journals.
Learning Objectives:
- The intern will learn key HPA skills, processes, and tools including collaboration, modeling, analysis, and techincal communication.
Responsibilities
- Designing, pretesting, and fielding stated-preference surveys
- Constructing data sets for model estimation
- Analyzing data using advanced limited-dependent-variable econometric methods
- Writing reports and manuscripts
- Preparing presentations

Additional Information
This hybrid paid internship will take place from January 2024 through April 2024. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 12-15 hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate in a science related major (Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Public Health, etc.), English or Technical Writing
- Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook
- Knowledge of general grammar and punctuation rules
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and team members
- Able to easily review, understand and summarize scientific literature
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidate should be able to work well in a hybrid (work from home + work from workplace (RTP campus)) work environment as needed
- Detail oriented
- Experience with EndNote or other reference management software
- Ability to prioritize workload and make strategic decisions about what to accomplish when faced with competing needs, including asking for help from team members
