Overview

The medicinal chemistry team within the Center for Drug Discovery supports client needs by conducting hit-to-lead and lead optimization. We integrate medicinal chemistry into larger projects focused on drug discovery and development, including computational chemistry, in vitro assay development and HTS screening, in vivo behavioral pharmacology, ADME/PK bioanalytics, and regulatory support.

We have an immediate need for a Medicinal Chemist with experience in peptide synthesis to join an exciting and growing team.  Ideally, you will be a highly-motivated and organized individual who desires a role involved in the synthesis of peptides and small molecules as ligands for various biological targets including kinases, G protein-coupled receptors, ion channels, and antimicrobial targets.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with experimental design
  • Perform compound synthesis independently or as a member of a team
  • Ensure proper execution of studies and record-keeping
  • Perform data analyses and prepare manuscripts for publication
  • Attend conferences to present novel research findings
  • Assist with grant applications
  • Train junior investigators and technicians as needed
  • Review literature and patents to retrieve scientific information
  • Other duties as assigned by PI

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in synthetic or medicinal chemistry or a related discipline field of study
  • Experience with a wide variety of chemical reactions
  • Experience with peptide and nucleotide chemistry
  • Experience with in vitro assays for antibacterial activity
  • Experience with LC/MS, NMR and chiral separation techniques
  • Experience with cell cultures and/or biological assays is highly desired
  • Knowledge of basic computational techniques is highly desired
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Hiring Salary Range

$85,000.00-$95,000.00
