RTI International seeks a prospect for the Health Research Analyst Internship in the Center for Health Care Quality and Outcomes within the Social, Statistical, & Environmental Sciences (SSES) unit)
This internship is a contract position. The employment contract is administered by Greene Resources Powered by Array, RTI’s supplemental staffing partner.
The Center for Health Care Quality and Outcomes focuses on analyzing federal, state, and local policies and programs related to health care quality and care experiences. We combine innovative research and evaluation methods with deep subject matter expertise in health care quality, access, and outcomes.
The intern will work with the project team on a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) funded project. The intern will use various datasets to perform quantitative analyses such as examining participating oncology practices' quality performance over time and exploring correlations among a variety of quality measures. The intern will prepare a final document, such as a report, power point, or memorandum, based on the findings.
Learning Objectives:
- Best practices for team-based quantitative research.
- Enhance oral and written communication skills.
- Gain understanding of Medicare alternative payment models
Responsibilities
- Assist with quantitative data analyses, including help with developing data visualizations
- Contribute to group discussions about the quantitative data analysis findings to help with interpretation of findings
- Provide support for the team’s current quality control and quality assurance processes that were established to ensure the accuracy and validity of the data analyses
- Contribute to client-directed analyses as needed
- Assist with project team coordination and administrative operations

Additional Information
This hybrid paid internship will take place from June 2024 through August 2024. The internship requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week. Hours are flexible during business hours, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled sophomore, junior, or senior OR master's level student studying public health, or health policy
- Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative skills (e.g., through courses taken, publications, other educational opportunities)
- Strong excel and data visualization skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in health policy, measuring quality of care, oncology care, Medicare, payment reform, and/or improving care delivery
- Undergraduate and master's level May 2024 degree recipients are welcomed to apply
