Payrate: $20.05 an hour
SUMMARY:
The Assistant Site Director will provide a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The Assistant Site Director will assist parents and families in the enrollment process and aid in acclimating children in to the environment. They will ensure the provision of quality, comprehensive child development services including: education, health, nutrition, parent involvement, and necessary family support services and referrals. The Assistant Site Director is responsible for ensuring the classrooms are maintained in a clean and orderly manner, completing required paperwork, and assessing the centers supply needs. The Assistant Site Director will follow Head Start Performance Standards, Reach Dane policy and procedures, Wisconsin State Licensing rules and standards, and City of Madison and NAEYC Accreditation criteria (if applicable). They will maintain positive relationships with families, children, Reach Dane staff and community partners.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, in Early Childhood Education: Exceptional Educational Needs or Child Development; related Bachelor’s degrees include the minimum qualifications:
- Early Childhood Exceptional Education Needs (ECEEN) that includes 18 credits in ECE, or a composite of 18 ECE credits from the degree and pre/post study
- Child and Family Studies with 18 credits specifically related to Child Studies
- Elementary Education that includes 18 credit hours in ECE, or a composite of 18 ECE credits from the degree and pre/post study
- Minimum Registry level 12, Level 14 preferred
- Must have at least 1 year experience in an early care education setting; experience in a licensed program.
- Knowledge of Wisconsin Day Care Licensing requirements, teaching competencies, parent-child relations, Wisconsin Works (W2) Programs, and community resources.
- Must be willing to fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with the agency’s mission
- Knowledge of and experience with infant/toddler, preschool, and school aged care.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with and sensitivity to low-income and families of diverse cultures.
- Knowledge of and experience with children with special needs is desirable
- Demonstrate effective listening, oral, and written communication skills.
- Must effectively perform Directors Duties in the absence of the director.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must secure Registry certificate within 90 days of employment
- Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others and be able to relate well to children, families, staff and community, and collaborative agencies.
