POSITION SUMMARY

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the effective management, optimization, and operation of Microsoft SQL Server databases within our corporate enterprise. This role requires a deep understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, security management, and documentation. The DBA will work closely with IT staff to ensure database integrity, security, and availability.

OTHER ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning, resource allocation, and script automation.
  • Ensure all database systems meet business and performance requirements.
  • Produce detailed documentation for database design and architecture, including tracking changes and updates.
  • Implement and maintain database security strategies to ensure data integrity and accessibility; develop and test backup and recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with developers and IT team members on project work and system integration.
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and company regulations; adhere to best practices in database management.
  • Assisting the help desk with high level user issues when needed.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates Degree or higher in and IT Field required.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Experience with database administration, performance optimization, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in database security, backup, and recovery procedures.
  • Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Willingness to work overtime or on weekends as the workload demands.
  • Proven work experience as a Database Administrator, with extensive experience managing Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • In-depth understanding of Microsoft SQL Server database architecture, software, and features.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Microsoft Certified: SQL Database Administrator Associate or similar certification.
  • Experience in implementing and managing high availability and disaster recovery solutions with SQL Server.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Duties are performed primarily in a smoke-free office environment
