Responsibilities
The EMT/Paramedic is directly accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department. The duties include, but are not limited to:
- responsible for the assessment and basic management of medical, trauma and environmental emergencies under the supervision of the ED RN, Charge RN or Physician
- assists with patient care based on individual patient needs within the scope of practice
- communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology
- able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment
- assists in maintenance of a safe environment
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
- current and valid paramedic license issued by the state of Texas
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014
- current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) within 6 months of hire and maintain current
Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):
- ACLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
- PALS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current
