Responsibilities

We are seeking a Surgical Nurse, internally referred to as our Minor Procedures Register Nurse at St John Hospital a member of Prime Healthcare. As a Minor Procedures Registered Nurse (RN) you will specialize in assisting with minor medical procedures that are performed outside of the operating room setting. They ensure the safe and effective delivery of minor medical procedures, provide support to patients throughout the process, and contribute to positive patient outcomes.

Shift’s Available:  Days (No weekends)

Hours: 8hr

If you have Registered Nurse with experience in the Operating Room (OR), Gastrointestinal (GI), Surgery or had on the job training (OJT) in the OR you are encouraged to apply!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • conduct pre-procedure assessments to evaluate patients' medical histories, current conditions, and any potential risks associated with the procedure
  • you may also conduct pre-op telephone screening, pre-op and post-op care, conscious sedation, and circulating duties
  • educate patients about the procedure, including what to expect before, during, and after the procedure
  • may explain the purpose of the procedure, potential risks, and benefits, and provide instructions for pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure care
  • during the procedure, assist the healthcare provider by preparing the patient, organizing supplies and equipment, and providing support as needed, they may also assist with administering local anesthesia or medications as directed by the provider
  • maintain knowledgeable of each phase of the peri-operative process and perform safe patient care throughout the entire peri-op patient experience
  • provide post-procedure care and instructions to patients which may include monitoring patients for any immediate post-procedure complications, providing wound care instructions, and addressing any concerns or questions the patient may have

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • current and valid state RN License
  • current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training
  • Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
