Responsibilities
The Stroke and STEMI/SRC nurse is responsible for the organization, coordinating and leading all activities associated with the Stroke and the STEMI/SRC Program. The nurse is an active participant in performance improvement data collection, activities, and functions to promote an integrated stroke and STEMI/SRC programs, ensuring the provision of the highest quality healthcare. Assists with the development and implementation of initiatives, policies and procedures, including staff education activities related to stroke care and STEMI care and processes. Evaluates the Stroke and SRC Programs through the use of data capture, follow-up and trend analysis and presents findings to appropriate committees. Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team on problem identification and resolution, cost containment issues, implementation of new services and systems/ performance measures for both the Stroke and the STEMI/SRC Programs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. BSN required, Masters (APN) preferred. Current state licensure as an RN or APN. Basic Life Support (BLS) 2. Five years clinical and/or management experience in a multidisciplinary health care setting which includes a minimum of two years of inpatient experience preferred.3. After 6 months, knowledge in the care of stroke patients using the American Stroke Association Guidelines is required.4. After 6 months, knowledge in the care of STEMI patients using the LA County EMS regulations and guidelines5. Knowledgeable on current State Laws and Regulations as applicable to facility and Stroke program.6. Computer proficiency in Windows applications is required (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint); strong working knowledge in data management, data analysis and quality improvement processes are required. Proficiency in Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) and core clinical systems are required.
