This is supervisory housing rehabilitation and/or weatherization work directing and coordinating a staff engaged in providing assistance to property owners in the rehabilitation of their property to meet code standards. An employee in this class reviews architectural drawings and design standards and coordinates field review prior to final bid proposals for contract awards; plans, assigns reviews, and evaluates the work of subordinate rehabilitation specialists and inspectors preparing work write-ups, cost estimates, and monitors the rehabilitation work of contractors. Contact with homeowners, contractors, and community groups to provide information on program procedures and resolve problems pertaining to rehabilitation activities is a major aspect of the work.
This class is distinguished from other inspection/supervisory classes by employee’s certification as a Quality Control Inspector in order to perform certified independent weatherization quality control inspections. Work includes all other aspects of field work inspection and coordination, including conducting job site conferences and insuring compliance with contract terms, work specifications, codes, construction practices and inspection protocols. Performing building diagnostics, recording and reporting inspection findings and concerns and initiating corrective actions are significant aspects of the work.
