Pacific Clinics serves children, transitional age youth, families, adults, and older adults. We offer a full range of mental and behavioral health services, foster care and social services, housing, continuing adult education and early childhood education programs to Medi-Cal eligible individuals and families throughout Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kings, Los Angeles, Madera, Orange, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Solano, Stanislaus, Stockton, Tulare and Ventura Counties.

About our Program:
Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)
The CSU receives youth on a 5150 hold via police or ambulance and is a 23hr 59min hospital diversion program available for children on a 5150 "hold" or involuntary commitment. The CSU provides services to children experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency.
Services provided include a comprehensive risk assessment by a clinician, as well as assessments by psychiatrists and nurses. Additionally, there will be recommendations for after care planning, referral to outpatient services, and if needed, post crisis stabilization services (PCSS) for ongoing mental health services.
Shifts include: day, nights and overnights. 7:00am-7:30pm, 7:00pm - 7:30am, 7:00am - 3:30pm, 3:00pm - 11:00pm and 11:00pm - 7:30am
JOB SUMMARY
Works within the vision, mission and philosophy of the agency. Is responsible for the general medical and psychiatric care of youth. Applies practical nursing techniques and follows standard practices in caring for youth including recognizing typical patterns or symptoms.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Assists the staff RN and Psychiatrist in the implementation of nursing processes in the agency, implementing youth’s medical treatment plan and medication orders.
2. Coordinates, schedules, and oversees all pediatric medical treatment of youth within programs.
3. Admits and discharges youth, including completing health assessments using body charts, monthly vital signs, physical assessments, and determines physiological status.
4. Monitors and implements the systems of care delivery for pediatric nursing / medical activities and pharmacological care.
5. Schedules medical, dental and laboratory appointments considering medical requirements, service and transportation schedules.
6. Schedules external psychiatric appointments and follows-up as delegated by attending psychiatrist.
7. Follows MD orders, oversees, evaluates, and implements all activities and functions around ordering, monitoring, documenting and the handling of medications.
8. Maintains and manages the medical and psychiatric records and Private Health Information (PHI) in an organized and timely manner, so as to meet the standards of care, accreditation, licensing requirements, and patient care needs.
9. Collaborates with the multidisciplinary teams, organizes and provides education to staff, parent and youth regarding health, safety, psychiatric and medication issues.
10. Is available on an on-call basis after hours and on weekends to respond to special needs of youth, including psychiatric emergencies with appropriate intervention.
11. Exercises judgment in recognizing basic symptoms indicative of adverse medication reactions; consults with supervisor and/or alerts medical staff. Monitors medications for potential medication side effects.
12. Attends committees, team and staff meetings.
13. Performs other related responsibilities, as assigned, to support specific department/business needs.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• Completion of a prescribed course of study and training in a school accredited by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians of the State of California, and received a license through the Board of Vocational Nursing or a certificate through the Psychiatric Technicians of the State of California.
• One (1) year clinical experience required
