OrthoNebraska is adding a Registered Nurse (RN) to our Short Stay / Extended Recovery team!

Schedule | (2) 12 Shifts a week with Weekend Rotation; Shifts are 6:45pm to 7:15am |
Department/Position Details:
- 1:4 patient ratios
- 12-Hour Shifts (6:45am – 7:15pm or 6:45pm – 7:15am)
- Weekend Rotations Required
- Work with total joints (knees, hips, shoulders), spine patients, hand or foot surgeries, infections, jaw patients
- Fast pace environment as some patients are discharging same day. Most length of stays are less than 2 days.
- Frequent check-ins with patients and develop quick rapports as we get to know the patient as an individual.
- Early mobilization and reinforcing patient education vital to patient success.
- Patient care is a collaborative approach working closely with a multidisciplinary team
- Frequent communication with surgeons and hospitalist team
- Care for teens through geriatrics
Skills Needed:
- IVs, lab draws, plans of care, medication administration, education (patient and support person), open communication with interdepartmental team members, nursing assessments, documentation/charting, dressing changes, working knowledge of drains/foleys, blood administration, recognize emergent situations and react appropriately, oxygen applications
Position Requirements:
Education:
- Graduate from an accredited school/college of nursing.
- Required Registered Nursing licensed in the State of Nebraska or eligible compact state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
Experience:
- 1+ Years of RN (Registered Nurse) Experience Preferred
Physical:
- This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the assigned patient’s nursing care needs and reprioritizes care accordingly.
- Develops/reviews/revises and individualizes the plan of care to address the patient’s nursing care needs for optimum patient care outcome.
- Implements interventions consistent with the established plan of care in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Evaluates patient care to determine response to care/interventions for optimal patient outcome.
- Performs technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety.
- Maintains a professional behavior in attitudes, demeanor, interactions to achieve organization’s mission.
- Initiates action to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risk(s) to the patient, family or hospital employees (i.e., falls, needle sticks, patient concerns).
- Maintains patient confidentially.
- Demonstrates positive communication/problem solving skills.
- Interact with patients, physicians and other team members in a collaborative manner
- Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
