Department/Position Details:
- No specific ratios to share as volumes are always changing
- Work closely with team of nurses and physicians to support the patient as needed
- Types of patients: car accident, sports injuries, broken bones and cuts, uncontrolled bleeding, chest pain, breathing difficulties, stroke, allergic reactions, abdominal pain, etc
- Treat patients across the age continuum
Tasks:
- vitals, charting, transport, cleaning, stocking
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform basic patient care functions by complying with established protocols, policies, procedures and standards based on individual patient needs under the direction of licensed nursing personnel to assure quality patient care
- Function as a team member by demonstrating initiative and flexibility in completion of workload to provide high quality, efficient patient care.
- Interact with patients and other health care professionals utilizing appropriate communication skills so that efficiency, productivity and the quality of care are enhanced.
- Perform clerical and support tasks and patient registration activities to ensure efficient workflow in the unit.
- Maintain patient medical record by following correct procedures to ensure accurate and timely availability of patient information.
- Perform charge entry, cost containment and supply inventory tasks to ensure successful operation of the unit.
- Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
- Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.
Position Requirements:
Education:
- High School Education or equivalent required.
- Approved Certified Nurse Assistant Course.
- Registered with State of Nebraska
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Experience:
- Prior Nurse Assistant experience preferred.
- Must be able to work from detailed verbal or written instructions and uses judgment for routine situations.
- Preferred one year customer service work required in a health care setting.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred and the ability to demonstrate effective communication skills.
Physical:
- This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work
