OrthoNebraska is adding a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to our Short Stay / Extended Recovery team!
The Short Stay/Recovery Overflow team environment is fast paced and well organized in taking care of the needs of our orthopaedic community.

Department/Position Details:
- 1:6 patients typically
- Work with total joints (knees, hips, shoulders), spine patients, hand or foot surgeries, infections, jaw patients
- Fast moving pace as some patients are discharging same day. Most length of stays are less than 2 days.
- Frequent touchbases with patients and develop quick rapports as we get to know the patient as an individual.
- Early mobilization and reinforcing patient education vital to patient success.
- Patient care is a collaborative approach working closely with nurses and the Inpatient therapy team.
- Care for patients from teens through geriatrics
Tasks:
- Frequent vitals, charting, Incentive spirometry, ADLs, mobilize patients, blood sugars, repositioning, showering, I/Os, transporting
Position Requirements:
Education:
- High School Education or equivalent required.
- Approved Certified Nurse Assistant Course.
- Registered with State of Nebraska
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Experience:
- Prior Nurse Assistant experience preferred.
- Must be able to work from detailed verbal or written instructions and uses judgment for routine situations.
- Preferred one year customer service work required in a health care setting.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred and the ability to demonstrate effective communication skills.
Physical:
- This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Essential Job Functions:
- Participates in Patient’s immediate environment.
- Participates in patient’s activities of daily living and provides clinical support within level of preparation.
- Provides orientation for new Certified Nursing Assistants as assigned/delegated
- General Clerical/Secretarial responsibilities.

- Supports quality and cost effective care.
