General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Child Abuse Hotline as directed by the Mandated Reporter Act.
  • Will provide exceptional customer service to parents, foster caregivers, referring case agencies, and other team members.
  • Will Maintain discretion, as they are entrusted with a client’s personal information and knowledge of their unique situation. This confidentiality extends to ensuring client data is secure. 
  • Reports any exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Submits expense vouchers, renewed driver's licenses, and automobile insurance coverage on the due date.
  • Facilitate the progress of trainees through the required training.
  • Create and maintain a tracking program to ensure all team members have a full training transcript and required documentation for DCFS and COA.
  • Monitor staff progress through each training program by administering written and practical exams and providing performance reports to managers regarding trainees’ performance
  • Provide support to trainees after training programs have been conducted to ensure comprehension and to provide follow-up training as necessary
  • Respond professionally to routine inquiries from staff, managers, and senior leaders within OHU
  • Maintain the highest professional level of confidentiality in handling staff information
  • Leverage learning management systems to track, deploy and produce reports regarding training events
  • Keep current on OHU and DCFS policies and procedures
  • Assist in the development, revision, and implementation of training materials as needed
  • Work effectively and collaboratively as a team player with other members of leadership and the Continued Quality Improvement team.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • The Trainer will support ongoing training provision on utilization of MHA/ITP and/or IM+ CANS, application of ARC, use of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, and completion of therapeutic assessments such as CSSRS, Beck Depression/Anxiety Scale, CANS, and ACEs.
  • Educate trainees on program policies, procedures, and personal skills using instructional classroom training, hands-on instruction, and distance learning via video conferencing and webinars
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs to ensure desired results are achieved and are in line with OHU goals and objectives
  • Contributes to Clinical Meetings and Team Meetings as assigned
  • The Trainer assists the supervisor with new staff skill-building by facilitating clinical practice and trauma training; they will also be available for ongoing practice coaching.
  • The Trainer provides external agencies and community partners with additional trauma training. The training is specific to addressing the impact of societal/community stressors and complex trauma on the development of an individual. This includes information about the physiological impact of stress and trauma on the brain and nervous system, as well as the influence of these factors on mental and behavioral health.
  • The Trainer assists with conducting Internal Trauma Training (ITT), IPS Documentation Training (IPS-DT), IPS Systems Training (IPS-ST), and IPS Paperwork Training (IPS-PWT).
  • The Trainer will participate in foster parent PRIDE training, utilizing materials and feedback from the IPS Trauma Informed Parenting (TIP) group (permission from DCFS is needed for this activity).
  • The Trainer facilitates external trauma training in residential facilities, POS agencies, schools, churches, and community organizations in the Northern, Central, and Southern regions.
  • Adheres to Evidence-Based/Trauma Informed Program
  • This position will require day and overnight travel to multiple coverage areas statewide.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

 

Education:

 

MA/MS from an accredited college or university preferred in a related field with at least 2 plus years of experience is preferred.

BA/BS from an accredited college or university preferred in a related field with at least 2 plus years of experience.

Experience:

2 years of experience in Social Work, Human Resources, Training/Development, or related areas preferred. 2 years of specialized experience in case management, supervision, therapy, or another leadership role

 

Other:

Reliable transportation

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with OHU-required levels of coverage for auto insurance

DCFS background clearance

 

Required Skills

  1. Demonstrated coaching, initiative, development skills, organizational awareness, and client satisfaction service approach
  2. Must be professional, comfortable, speaking with all levels of management, and prepare to provide candid feedback to managers regarding trainees’ progress
  3. Experience designing and implementing curricula preferred
  4. Advanced computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and adaptive skills to expand software application skills as necessary
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong confidence level speaking to large or small groups are essential to this position
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document in a clear, concise manner
  7. Ability to exercise discretion and ensure confidentiality

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role in a professional office environment; however, some active office tasks are required. This would require the ability to move about inside the office to access cabinets, office machinery, etc. This position occasionally requires the ability to move file boxes, office products, and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

The position requires visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if needed; and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and office equipment, including, but not limited to, the telephone, computer, and copier. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may occur.
