Job Responsibilities

As Associate Product Manager, you will support a marketing team that is charged with profitably growing the consumer products category in the distribution channel. This includes increasing the profitability of existing products and developing new products for the company. You will build products from existing ideas and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand the problems and find innovative solutions for the broader market. You must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. You will work with marketing communications to deliver the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer. The associate product manager's key role is to support the strategy with tactical execution of initiatives. Will work directly with the Product Manager, Sales, Channel Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Consumer Distribution team in managing the product portfolio through continual and in-depth analysis to ensure market needs are met while supporting operational excellence initiatives designed to deliver world class service
  • Understand the business P&L and how marketing decisions contribute to overall business growth
  • Analyze customer research, current market conditions, market trends and competitive information to identify opportunities for launching new and existing products into both new and existing channels
  • Support and develop Product Plans for new products
  • Contribute to project development and aligning priorities and resources based on overall business needs
  • Support the development of the Business Case, including market size, growth rate, share potential, competitive strengths/weaknesses, and potential new unit forecasts and pricing strategy
  • Lead cross functional project teams comprised of Marketing, Sales, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain to execute new product development plans
  • Support new product roadmaps that align with the corporate strategic plan

Requirements

  • Four (4) year Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or other related field, MBA preferred
  • 3-5 years of product management experience
  • Strong PC aptitude required, specifically in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); Advanced skills in Excel preferred
  • Strong analytical skills including experience with P&L analysis required
  • Ability to operate with high sense of urgency and personal initiative, and respond to multiple deadlines while maintaining good coordination and communication with colleagues and staff
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strategic, technical, and creative competency required
  • Ability to read technical material and develop analysis and recommendations

Experience

  • Prior experience presenting to a Director or VP Level audience
  • Comfortable with interacting with sales and technical personnel as well as key customers
  • Experience bringing products from concept through commercialization
  • This position requires travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America
