PHLEBOTOMIST

OCTAPHARMA LITTLE YORK CENTER.   1541 Little York Rd, Houston, TX 77093  (off Little York Road and the Hardy Toll Road).

 This is What You’ll Do:

  • Sets up and prepares all equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedure [as well as the disconnection process].
  • Maintain familiarity and compliance with company SOPs, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), and federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines (as they relate to product quality, donor safety, and proper procedural accuracy).
  • Operates the automated plasmapheresis machines, including response and evaluation of all alarms and machine errors, documentation of exceptions, etc.
  • Removes and/or replaces equipment from service.
  • Monitors donors for reactions and equipment operations to ensure donor safety and quality of product.
  • Maintains and ensures the proper sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Disposes of all contaminated disposable supplies and biohazard waste.
  • Maintains accurate and thorough documentation of necessary records, including Machine Logs.
  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly calibration and maintenance of automated plasmapheresis machines.
  • Ensures donor confidentiality, meets customer service expectations, greets and acknowledge donors, as they are assigned to donation area and after completing donation process.
  • Maintains/stocks adequate inventory and replenishes supplies where applicable.
  • Reports all unsafe situations or conditions to supervisors and/or management.
  • Cross-trains and helps in another area of production, as determined based on center needs.  (*Required).
  • Performs other job or center-related tasks, as assigned.

This is What It Takes:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work early mornings, days, late evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and spend long periods of time on your feet without rest.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to understand and follow protocol.
  • Ability to communicate effectively from amongst a very diverse group.
  • Must have 6+ months of customer service experience (working in-person with customers/patients, handling inquires and/or resolving complaints).
  • Must have 6+ months of experience in phlebotomy (position, not training).
  • Must strictly adhere to the company's Appearance and Dress Code requirements.
  • Must have the flexibility to sometimes stay past your shift, for varying amounts, in order for the center to remain within FDA regulations related to staffing.
  • Demonstrates Consistency and Reliability (attendance, attitude, work ethic, etc.)
  • General computer skills. (can comfortably navigate programs using universal symbols and steps).
  • Bilingual is a plus (not required).
  • CPR Certification is a plus (not required).
