Database Administrator 

Charlotte, North Carolina

This Is What You’ll Do:

We are seeking a Database Administrator to join our growing biopharmaceutical company. Reporting to the Business Intelligence Manager of Development, this position is responsible for managing databases and integrations using the Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server platforms. This will include database support, management and evaluation, ETL, data warehousing tasks, and other data-related tasks. This position requires excellent communication, technical, and project management skills. 

Additional responsibilities of the Database Administrator role include:

• Monitor and optimize the performance, security, backup, restore, and integrity of database management systems.
• Manage and maintain development, test, and production of Oracle and SQL environment.
• Provide architectural advice to the development team.
• Support the design, development, and implementation of dimensional reporting databases.
• Perform quality checks on interfaces, reports, and exports to ensure exceptional quality.
• Monitor job and transfer queues to ensure that they are functioning as expected.
• Create and maintain documentation for all projects.
• Participate in on-call rotation.

This Is What It Takes:

• Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Business or related area
• TOAD and T-SQL (Transact SQL) Stored Procedures and Triggers
• 3 to 5 years’ experience and extensive, hands-on knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database development, administration, and performance tuning
• 1 to 3 years’ experience installing and configuring SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Integration Services (SSIS) and Analysis Services (SSAS).
• Well experienced at developing and managing cubed databases as well as strong understanding of OLAP tools.
• Experience with Oracle (LINUX platform)/SQL Server (Windows platform) in a clustered environment.
• Solid knowledge of good promotion process and maintaining development lifecycle throughout implementation process.
• Familiar with Oracle Enterprise Manager and SQL Server Management Studio
• Working knowledge of network communications, Multi-tiered Architecture
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills with a detail-oriented mind set.
• Database administrative experience strongly preferred.
• Oracle Database OCP and/or MCDBA preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a team-based development environment.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and to work within a structured project methodology.
• Ability to solve technical issues independently or with limited guidance.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical designs.
