The CCRC Social Work Internship provides an opportunity for students pursuing a degree in social work to gain practical experience in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) setting. Under the supervision of a MSW or other qualified professionals, interns will engage in a variety of activities aimed at supporting the psychosocial well-being of older adults residing in the CCRC.
Responsibilities:
- Role will function as a liaison of the social work department.
- Project management for various initiatives such as care coordination, bereavement guide and more.
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of residents and collaborate with the interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans based on assessment findings.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of resident assessments, care plans, interventions and progress notes.
- Participate in social work-related audits.
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a Master’s degree program in social work or related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with older adults, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Compassion, empathy, and sensitivity to the needs of older adults and their families.
Timeline: This internship will last from 8-12 weeks, depending on the availability of intern. There is a possibility that the internship could continue into the fall on a part-time basis, depending on availability of the intern.
