Position: KITS Lead Teacher - Summer Program
Rate: $25.00 per hour, or District Teachers will be compensated at their regular hourly rate.
Schedule: 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm - Some training may begin in June
Location: Westridge
- The summer sessions will start the week of July 8th and run through approximately August 1, 2024
- Approximately 6-8 hours a week - 1:30 - 3:30 pm (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Required Training: 8-36 hours depending on experience/previous training (beginning in June)
General Description; brief description of the job to be performed:
Lead School Readiness Groups using the Kids in Transition to School (KITS) model and philosophy, including appropriate use of reinforcement and limit setting. Attend weekly clinical meetings. Complete impressions about each child and group as a whole after each session. Groups meet for 3 hours each session, including prep time. During the summer groups will meet two days to three days a week and in the fall one day/week.
Job Tasks; essential Job Tasks to be performed:
- Lead lessons and role plays
- Facilitate transitions
- Monitor flow and timing of activities
- Monitor overall behavior and interactions among the group
- Work with KITS Consultant and site supervisors to manage support staff
- Ongoing assessment of children’s strengths and needs
- Coordinate with program supervisor and team to develop adaptations and support for individual student needs
- Participate in weekly clinical team meeting
- Complete post-group ratings of child behavior
- Other project related tasks as needed
General Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in associated field or Associates degree plus 3 or more years experience
- Experience working with/and or educating young children
- Understanding of child development and appropriate expectations for 4–6 year olds
- Experience in a leadership position
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Good working knowledge of personal computers: formal training and/or employment experience in this area strongly preferred
