Job Description:
Maintain adequate corrosion control systems for pipelines and Terminals, including monitoring, testing, design. Corrosion control systems will include cathodic protection, atmospheric and subsurface coatings, and internal corrosion prevention such as chemical treatments and monitoring.•Maintain effective corrosion control systems for pipeline and terminals. Run test, as needed for design of corrosion control systems.
•Inspect installation of cathodic protection systems. Provide support for refineries as needed.
•Troubleshoot and mitigate interference problems as required.
•Corrects, enters, and reviews data in PCS as defined in Corrosion Department Procedures.
•Utilize Allegro field computers to collect regulatory CP data.
•Constantly interact, train, and support operations personnel concerning corrosion control.
•Inspect and advise on coating inspection and failure analysis as needed.
•Performs annual pipe to soil surveys in defined areas.
•Oversees company or contract personnel on annual and close interval surveys.
•Repairs rectifiers, test stations, etc. as needed.
•Adjusts/repairs cathodic protection systems as needed.
•Assists in design of cathodic protection systems. Inspects construction of corrosion control projects.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3 years of experience in mitigation of corrosion of subsurface pipelines and above ground storage tanks required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft products.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to independently proof work for accuracy.
- Knowledge of petroleum products and industry terminology required.
- Extensive working knowledge of PCS (Pipeline Compliance Software) required.
- Ability to manage time and scheduling to meet appropriate deadlines.
- Ability to work successfully in stressful situations and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to use awareness of relationships and impacts of data trends and elements to appropriately recommends actions that impact both near and long-term company operations and profits.
- Ability to independently conduct job accountabilities.
- Ability to take directions from supervisors.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Must have valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
- Must have or obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within 90 days.
- Ability to safely operate a ¾ ton pickup pulling a small trailer.
- 40% travel is expected.
This position will require an individual to hold a valid driver’s license.
When a higher-level position exists candidates with greater qualifications may be considered for the position.
