Key Result Areas:

  • Prompt Communication with 3rd party individuals (response time of a maximum of two business days)

  • Ensure compliance changes delivered by auditor happens within one week

  • Documentation to be a minimum of 75% compliant 

  • Same day charting

  • Ensure each client is receiving 5-15-30-hours of Clinically therapeutic services according to 245G depending on the program 

  • Professionally presentable workspace (no spills and HIPAA compliant)

 Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Functions)

  1. Provide individual counseling, group counseling, case management, crisis intervention that addresses the goals established on the treatment plan.

  2. Document services provided in appropriate client files according to NBH policies and procedures and standards established by governing bodies.

  3. Develop comprehensive treatment plans that meet the individual needs of the client.  Treatment plans will be completed in accordance with NBH policies and procedures and standards established by governing bodies.

  4. Complete and document assessments in accordance with NBH policies and procedures and standards established by governing bodies.

  5. Participate in weekly staff meetings and supervision meetings.

  6. Conduct weekly individual supervision meetings with clinicians and interns.

  7. Responsible for disciplinary action in response to employee problems, performance or behavior; including but not limited to, verbal, written and performance improvement plan.

  8. Coordinate care with outside providers such as court, Department of Corrections, and other referral sources and provide appropriate information as requested.

  9. Discharge duties in accordance with contracts, licensure standards, and NBH policies and procedures.

  10. Exhibits knowledge of core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment.

  11. Maintain current knowledge of site and client activities.

  12. Plan work tasks to coincide with programming requirements.

  13. Set priorities in monitoring clients, making house rounds, documentation of pertinent information and completion of other assignments.

  14. Available, in a friendly respectful dignified manner, to clients for questions and other assistance.

  15. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  16. Highly dependable and can be counted on to work independently, having the ability to work with little direction.

  17. Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of program philosophy and policies and procedures, 245G requirements, house operations, including client rights and confidentiality.  

  18. Complete intake/admission procedures, orientation of new clients and co-workers.

  19. Encourage clients to achieve their goals by functioning as a positive role model.

  20. Serve as a resource for clients through knowledge of services and opportunities in the community.

  21. Accurate documentation of client information in the communications log and completion of other forms.

  22. Clearly understanding the program mission and how his/her work integrates with and advances the goals of the program.

  23. Respond to Client conflict resolution, grievances, and clinician disciplinary issues.

  24. Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

 Effectively problem-solves by:  

  1. Using sound decision making skills, exhibiting good judgment and realistic understanding of issues.

  2. Objectively documenting client related topics in client files and communication logs.

  3. Being diplomatic and exhibiting sensitivity toward other staff and client’s feelings, needs, values, and opinions.

  4. Taking ownership when solving problems.

  5. Having a willingness to seek assistance in making decisions.

  6. Supports mission of working as a team member of Northstar Behavioral Health by:

  7. Continuously seeking out to improve by suggesting solution to operational struggles, through soliciting input from co-workers including director.

  9. Interacting, communicating, and collaborating with team members to support mission of NBH.

  10. Demonstrating behavior that shows he/she is striving to maintain a positive environment by role modeling appropriate language and using respectful social skills.

  11. Participates in staff meetings.

  12. Completes clerical assignments such as faxing, copying programming materials, stocking packets/forms, typing documents in Word and updating Excel spreadsheets.

  13. Supports staff and director in making decisions.

  14. Ability to set boundaries with co-workers and clients.

  15. Laundering agency linen and miscellaneous items as needed.

  16. Keeps co-workers informed of all appropriate developments.

 Attendance:

  1. Adheres to attendance and absence policies.   

  2. Punctual in reporting for work and shift change reports.

  3. Participates in rotational and/or off - shift schedules, including a holiday rotation schedule, as applicable.

  4. Is willing to work additional hours/off - shift as needed.

 

Required Skills and Experience: (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities)

  • Must be licensed by the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor

  • Must be a designated by the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor Supervisor

  • Bachelor degree

  • Must have 3 or more years providing chemical dependency counseling

  • CPR Certification or attain within 30 days

  • Must have two years of freedom from chemical use problems

  • Must pass a State of Minnesota Background Check

  • Must possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License with acceptable driving record

  • Ability to use Microsoft office programs and other computer skills

 Additional Skills and Experience: (Preferred or helpful)

  • Master degree in a human service field

  • Specialty trainings such as DBT-SUD, CBT, MI, etc.
