As a client advocate at Northstar Behavioral Health you will have the opportunity to provide person centered care in an opiate and stimulant specific program with an energetic team. Northstar provides a large continuum of care from residential to outpatient, medical services, and mental health services in our Co-Occurring and MAT friendly programs. Some Job Duties May Include:

  • Transport clients to and from appointments, intake pickups, discharge drop offs, etc.
  • Being available to clients for questions and other assistance. 
  • Highly dependable and can be counted on to work independently, having the ability to work with little direction. 
  • Complete and assisting counselor with intake/admission procedures, orientation of new clients and co-workers. 
  • Encourage clients to achieve their goals by functioning as a positive role model. 
  • Participate in client recreational activities
  • Serve as a resource for clients through knowledge of services and opportunities in the community. 
  • Administer client medications and documents accordingly.
  • Support staff and director in making decisions. 

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • Free of chemical use problems for at least one year immediately preceding hire date and sign a statement attesting to that fact. 
  • Must be eighteen years old. 
  • Must have valid MN driver’s license and acceptable driving record. 
  • Physical ability to perform the responsibilities of the position which include, bending, stooping, sitting, walking, and lifting at least 30 pounds.
  • Have, or be willing to obtain once employed, CPR and First Aid trainings

Additional Preferred Skills/History:

  • Previous experience in the healthcare field (CNA, DSP, or history working in the addiction treatment field)
