Position Description
DEFINITION:
To lead, oversee, and provide classroom and laboratory instruction, while also performing a variety of administrative tasks for the Simulation and Game Development Program for the college.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives general supervision from the Department Chair, Fine, Performing & Commercial Arts.
- Provide monitoring, feedback, and recommendations for faculty and staff to the chair.
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Model and promote effective teaching techniques and continuous instructional improvement within the program.
- Lead and assist in the development, planning, implementation, and administration of goals and objectives for the program, including curriculum planning and program development.
- Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and orientation of new faculty, recommending part-time hires, coordinating observations, and conducting evaluations.
- Assist with class scheduling, room allocations, textbook selection, and curriculum updates.
- Supervise lab facilities for proper use, safety, and maintenance, and review needs for equipment, supplies, and instructional materials.
- Ensure high-quality teaching and arrange for class coverage as needed.
- Develop and present reports, coordinate the preparation of class records, and initiate course substitutions and waivers.
- Provide guidance and monitoring to faculty, ensuring the program's currency and relevance through course offerings and material development.
- Market the program, recruit students, prepare marketing materials, and represent the program at professional organizations.
- Advise students on academic, administrative, and career matters, taking a leadership role in student advising.
- Coordinate web page management and engage with advisory committees, following up on recommendations.
- Oversee program accreditation, reviews, certifications, and licensure procedures, and assist with job placement for students and graduates.
- Lead special projects, including pursuing grants and working with potential donors, and contribute to budget preparation.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Organizational and management practices as applied to the planning, analysis, and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs.
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations.
- Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration in the area of assignment.
- Principles and practices of curriculum development and instructional strategies.
- Current trends, research and development in the area of assignment.
Ability To:
- Interpret and apply college goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
- Analyze problems; identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
