Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications & Degree Requirements

  • An Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing is required. 
  • Registered Nurse with an unencumbered license.
  • Two years of work experience working as a Registered Nurse (4000 hours).
  • One year RN experience (2000 hours) in long-term care facility (facility must be licensed as a skilled nursing facility or be a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital) or supervise or teach students in a long term care facility.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Position Description

The Nurse Aide Lead Instructor will teach in curriculum and continuing education classes. Will assist with nursing classes as needed. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Will work with the Nursing Assistant Program Coordinator to maintain course schedules and class preparation.   
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with local healthcare facilities, businesses, community, and governmental agencies to assess their training needs and to keep them informed of the services and programs available through the college.
  • Ensure that all programs and courses offered are in strict adherence to the State Board of Community Colleges Code, regulating authorities, and local college policies and procedures related to Curriculum and Continuing Education programs.
  • Set up training courses by securing faculty, room space, instructional equipment, and software as needed.
  • Be thorough in planning with healthcare industry personnel, including timely follow-through and follow-up activities.
  • Assist with identifying processes that foster student learning, effective teaching, and relevant course content for continuing education resulting in achievement of identified outcomes.
  • Facilitate communication among the members of the department and other areas of the college.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule which may include evenings, early mornings, and some weekend work.
