Job Summary and Scope of Responsibilities:

The Director of Dental Services is responsible for leading our Dental Programs across Neighborcare Health, with a focus on strategy and clinical program design and implementation. To be the spokesperson to the community regarding Neighborcare Health’s Dental Programs. To effectively partner with the Chief Health Officer and other clinical director leaders across service lines to advance organizational initiatives and priorities. To be a key leader of the organization in designing and implementing highly effective dental programs to advance the mission of Neighborcare Health and improve outcomes in quality, service, and stewardship.

To lead and innovate in creating a health care system that is patient-centered and community-focused is an essential element in this position and may require representation of the organization in a variety of community settings, clinical training institutions, public health and at national and regional meetings.

The position will provide an opportunity to shape a leading health care organization whose mission is to advocate for and work with patients, programs and systems of care, and communities to reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes. The Director of Dental Services will help create and lead the vision and direction of Neighborcare Health and provide the clinical leadership necessary to achieve the organization’s goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be the clinical leader for Neighborcare Health’s Dental program and clinical services; Be the representative to the community as a dental leader of Neighborcare Health.
  • Assure our dental programs meet the highest standards of care using evidence based, community standard or best practice care models, and ensure consistency across clinic sites and programs.
  • Co-design and build Quality, Quality Assurance, Safety and Risk management programs that reduce patient risk and improve quality outcomes, and infection control standards, ensuring all staff follow and maintain all applicable laws and regulations for the dental industry while advancing a just culture and equitable environment with organization and dental leadership.
  • Reviews all clinical concerns submitted related to dental incidents or quality of care issues as presented or identified utilizing the prescribed processes.
  • Develop, implement, and lead systems of care to assure we are continuously improving within our Quality Improvement/Initiatives based principles and daily improvement.
  • Set the standards for dental practice, programs, and providers to achieve excellence in patient experience, dental quality, and provider productivity.
  • Effectively partner with CHO (Chief Health Officer) and all director leaders to evolve fully integrated programs of care with the patient at the center of care that leads to industry best practices.
  • Effectively lead change in the clinical group, provide effective mentoring and supervision to direct reports, site dental directors, and locum providers.
  • Develops, enforces, reviews, and revises policies and procedures as needed but no less frequently than annually.
  • Participates in patient treatment; examine, diagnose, provide consultation, and treat patients, prescribing pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate.
  • Informs the patient of diagnosis and treatment needs and options in such a way that the patient understands and can make an informed decision.
  • Completes accurate documentation of the patient’s dental diagnosis and treatment according to QI Standards and standards of care.
  • Participate in the development of the annual budget, productivity standards and compensation for the dental program.
  • Direct recruitment, selection, supervision, retention, mentoring, and evaluation for Site Dental Directors.
  • Manage and evolve the continuing education program for dental providers.
  • Recruit, select, and supervise the dental locum providers.
  • Serves as a clinical consultant in the facility for dental based concerns and dental aspects of public health matters, promoting oral health care and preventative oral health care strategies.
  • Creates a framework for partnership with physicians, dentists, staff, other clinical departments, and supports and promotes shared decision making.
  • Ensure system for provider coverage and/or on call systems in support of clinical sites and programs is adequate and effective.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a dental practice at Neighborcare Health providing a full range of primary dental care services.
  • May provide clinical and administrative supervision of direct reports.
  • Oversee clinical training and professional development programs for dental providers and dental leaders.

  • Ability and means to commute during the day to various locations.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrated Innovative and visionary leadership in clinical excellence, improved patient experience and care model design.
  • Effective communication skills and proven ability to inspire and mentor clinicians and clinical leaders.
  • Familiarity with complexities of multiple location organizations and the challenges of fostering a shared culture across the board.
  • Competent and experienced in working with an Electronic Health Record.
  • Effectively working in an ethically and culturally diverse workplace environment.

Education Required:

  • DDS or DMD

Education Preferred:

  • Master's in health administration or Master's in Public Health or equivalent

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

  • Licensed Dentist (DMD, DDS)

Years of Relevant Experience Required:

  • Minimum five (5) years management experience and clinical experience in a dental practice setting
  • Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience post-residency

Compensation 

  • The wage range for this position is minimum $154,960.00 up to $232,579.93 maximum.  
  • Compensation will be determined based on years of relevant experience.
