We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Permitting Coordinator to join our team in Sarasota. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of the permitting process.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Manage the permitting process and administrative functions
  • Permit application – Acquire, for each project, truss layouts, truss engineering, surveys, energy calcs, and soil reports from subcontractors. Prepare various forms and get various signatures and seals using the correct owner of record to be able to turn in a permit to Manatee County in a timely manner.
  • Permit issue – Pay fees, provide requested paperwork, resolve problems, answer questions from the county, to get a permit issued in a timely manner.
  • Resolve the latest county procedure – finding the best, fastest way to comply, i.e., drainage policy.
  • Re-reviews – acquire necessary paperwork, apply, and get issued in a timely manner.
  • Ability to prepare or resolve related county issues or have knowledge of change of subcontractor, CLOMR, county fee schedules, deeds, demolition permits, driveway forms, easements, elevation certificates, fence permits, final site plans, final surveys, floodplain application, foundation surveys, FPL/Buildsmart, FPL ownership change on TH/Condos, garbage deposits, impact fees, and credits, master plans, Notice of Commencements, permit by affidavit, permit extensions, permanent power temporary use permits, plats, purchase orders, reclaimed meters, renovation permits, sign permits, soil reports, subdivision water release, a temporary certificate of occupancy, temporary use, termite contracts.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong computer skills to access various county websites, excellent people management skills, ability to persevere, and good follow-through techniques.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Must be computer savvy and be able to learn new software quickly
  • Must have a great sense of urgency in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, goal-oriented, and dependable
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and listening skills
  • Must be team-oriented and enjoy working in a team environment
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize and be flexible with changing business needs
  • Must be reliable and punctual

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • General sedentary work requiring the use of office equipment such as computers, copiers, printers, scanners and telephones.
  • Position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, grasping, writing, typing, repetitive motions, hearing ability, visual acuity, and climbing stairs on occasion.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Some driving may be required.
