Our team is growing, and we are seeking to fill a number of key positions within our organization including this opportunity at NDX Green in Heber Springs, AR for a Full-Time Dental-Lab Technician Trainee (Stain/Glaze/Stacker). Previous experience is not necessary; we offer paid, hands-on training!

The regular hours for this position are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and subject to change from time to time.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Stain/Glaze Position:

  • Conduct in-line and final inspections of fixed products to ensure a quality product is delivered to customers on a daily basis.
  • Inspect cases ensuring doctor’s preferences are acknowledged and satisfied and RX and TTPs have been accurately followed.
  • Locate the proper shade tab from the appropriate shade guide.
  • Set up for staining and glazing by preparing work area and working materials.
  • Check the crown or bridge with the shade tab to be sure the colors are correct.
  • Fire the crown or bridge at the correct temperature for the appropriate amount of time.
  • Check the crown or bridge again to be sure the color does not need correction.
  • Fire at the correct temperature and for the appropriate amount of time.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Stacker Position:

  • Read prescriptions and specifications received from dentist.
  • Prepare porcelain of the correct shade by mixing powder and liquid in proper proportions to achieve correct consistency. Continually monitor porcelain mixture to maintain correct moisture content to avoid trapping air in porcelain and over wetting.
  • Apply body porcelain in the proper drill sequence to form functional, aesthetic Anatomy.
  • Cut away body porcelain on incisal edges or occlusal surfaces in preparation for application of enamel porcelain on incisal edge or lobes, ridges and cusp tips.
  • Add enamel porcelain in proper sequence to achieve proper aesthetics
  • Check centric occlusion with opposing model. Make any necessary adjustments.
  • Remove die from model and finish contacts being sure not to overbuild or leave contacts shy.
  • Check margins to be sure porcelain is completely adapted where it meets metal.
  • Condense porcelain thoroughly to remove as much moisture as possible.
  • Fire the porcelain at the correct temperature for the proper length of time.
  • Take cases though the entire porcelain stacking procedure to completion before stopping.
  • Maintain a clean work area and keep porcelain palette, brushes, and other tools clean to avoid contamination of porcelain with foreign material.
  • Check metal copings and frameworks for fit, correct pontic design, occlusals support, margins and surface texture (finish).
  • Degas and sandblast all copings and frameworks.
  • Apply opaque wash to copings and frameworks in the correct shade and then apply a first coat of opaque in the correct shade and set on hot plate for a minimum of ten minutes to dry; fire in porcelain oven at correct temperature and for proper length of time.
  • Sign work cards with technician number.
  • After firing the first coat, cool units and match to correct models.
  • Apply a second layer of opaque to the copings and/or framework with proper thickness of opaque, being sure to maintain uniform coverage and place on the hot plate for a minimum of ten minutes to dry.
  • Clean any excess opaque from collars and inside coping then fire at correct temperature for the required time period, careful not to put in too hot an oven.
  • Check all completed copings and frameworks for cracks, bubbles, or grayness. Make sure opaque has a high shine finish.  If necessary, remove opaque layer and redo.
  • Sandblast inside of all copings to be sure all opaque is removed and match to the correct models. Be careful not to sandblast opaque off pontic areas or make holes in copings.
  • Do one day rushes before the regular load.
  • Maintain clean work area and equipment.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to adapt to ProPay production system 

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • No experience required
