JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Manager shall organize, plan, direct, and oversee the organization's quality and regulatory efforts related to internal and external conformance to reasonable standards.  The main functions are to plan and adhere to HPC’s Quality Management System, verify and validate internal and external product designs relative to tolerance, and champion the business unit's quality culture.  The Quality Manager may host customers during site visits or act as the customer's representative before, during, and after testing. The position also supports other departments to ensure a positive customer experience by verifying the company is meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Review, update and approve procedures in the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance to AS9100 and ISO 9001.
  • Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the QMS.
  • Lead Quality Management Review Meetings to routinely review critical inputs and outputs of the QMS.
  • Participate in the review of KPI for all Core Processes and internal business metrics for the QMS. Report on achievement of targets and or initiate corrective action as needed to meet targets.  
  • Report on Quality Dept. KPIs and take corrective action as needed to meet targets.
  • Oversee and as appropriate participate in process internal audits to ensure compliance with the (QMS)
  • Oversee and participate in Corrective Action and (non-conforming) Material Review meetings.
  • Approve and check the effectiveness of customer, vendor, and internal corrective actions.  
  • Assist with RMA inspections, assessments, and recommendations to resolve customer issues.
  • Drive the implementation of robust root cause investigations and corrective/preventative actions.
  • Work with other department Managers to share ideas and improve operation. Recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities without compromising quality while optimizing cost.
  • Operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
  • Train others in all aspects of the QMS and application of procedures.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a high performing Quality Inspection Team.
  • Work with Quality personnel, and as required, with customers to resolve internal/external quality concerns.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to resolve quality issues promptly, reduce rework/scrap and improve lead times.
  • Perform or oversee on-site or remote supplier/vendor audits.
  • Oversee and as appropriate participate in customer quality contract reviews and ensure that all necessary processes are in place to satisfy all customer requirements. 
  • Act as a technical resource directly with customers on occasion.
  • Respond to customer complaints promptly, putting in containment actions and implementing short-term and long-term countermeasures.
  • Oversee the development of QC documents for products and projects. This may include creating a project-specific QC plan and Inspection / Functional Acceptance Test plans.
  • Provide technical expertise to the quality Inspection team and the Quality Engineer as needed.
  • Other duties as specified by senior management.

SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Computer expertise (Preferably Visual or equivalent ERP software, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to multi-task, plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies.
  • Comfortable leading and participating in group meetings.
  • Supervisory skills and experience preferred.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Technical Degree (STEM) and/or formal training relatable to Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience in production and quality control methods (ISO9001, AS9100 etc.) preferred.
  • Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing implementation and production systems helpful.
  • Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to stand, stoop and lift up to 40 lbs.
